[The play is a revived local play - "Alexander and the King of Egypt", last performed locally in the continuous tradition in the 1920's. First published locally 1816 by Callender & Dixon of Whitehaven. Play Revived in 1974. In the 1980's up to 40 performances a year over the Christmas performances a year over the Christmas period, but now only performed in the four main village pubs on Christmas Eve.]

Horwich Prize Medal Morris Men 20:00 Kirkby Lonsdale, Festival of Lights
[On the Saturday evening of the Festival of Lights, the Horwich Men will perform a version of the Lancaster Mummers Play. Lasting about 5 minutes, it would traditionally have been performed at The Big House for the gentry 's Yuletide gatherings. In the absence of a big house, the Horwich men plan to deliver the play to other pre-yuletide gatherings in the public houses of Kirkby Lonsdale from about 8.00 p.m. onwards.]
